The Indian Premier League (IPL) is famous for thrilling matches, big scores, and aggressive batting. However, sometimes things don’t go as planned. Teams lose quick wickets, and very low scores are recorded.
In the IPL 2024 final, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) made history by recording the lowest score in an IPL final. Gujarat Titans also had a tough time in 2024, scoring their lowest total of just 89 runs in a match against Delhi Capitals (DC).
IPL matches are fast-paced, with players aiming for big shots and boundaries right from the start. This attacking mindset often leads to high scores but can also backfire when wickets fall quickly. Even strong teams with experienced players have been bowled out for small totals in the past.

Lowest IPL Team Scores (2008-2024)
- Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) hold the record for the lowest IPL score. In IPL 2017, they were bowled out for just 49 runs in 9.4 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders. Interestingly, RCB also holds the record for the highest IPL score. They appear six times in the list of the lowest 25 IPL scores.
- Rajasthan Royals (RR) come next with a 58-run total in 15.1 overs against RCB. This match highlights why RCB is often seen as both the strongest and weakest team in IPL history.
- In IPL 2023, during match 60, RR was bowled out for only 59 runs in 10.3 overs while chasing a target of 172 against RCB. This loss ended RR’s playoff hopes as it hurt their net run rate.
- Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) have the fourth and fifth-lowest scores. They were bowled out for 66 and 67 runs, both in IPL 2017.
The lowest team scores in IPL history show how unpredictable cricket can be and the difficulties teams face in T20 matches. Over the years, some teams have struggled against strong bowling or sudden batting collapses, leading to very low scores.
