Abhishek Sharma extended his purple patch in the Asia Cup 2025, registering his third consecutive fifty in the Super Four stage. The opener has emerged as India’s standout performer, creating a significant gap between his consistency and the rest of the batting line-up.
On Friday, the left-handed batter dominated the Sri Lanka bowlers, smashing 61 runs off just 31 balls with eight fours and two sixes, maintaining a strike rate of 196.77. He gave India a blazing start, helping them reach 71/1 in the powerplay before being dismissed by Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka in the 9th over.
The innings also saw Abhishek make history, becoming the first batter to cross 300 runs in a single T20 Asia Cup edition. He surpassed Mohammad Rizwan to become the tournament’s highest run-getter in a single edition, breaking Virat Kohli’s previous record of 276 runs for India in 2022.
