Australian all-rounder Mitchell Owen has been drafted into the Punjab Kings (PBKS) squad for the remainder of IPL 2025, replacing Glenn Maxwell, who has been ruled out due to a fractured finger.
Maxwell’s injury marks another low point in what has been a disappointing season for the veteran, having scored just 48 runs across seven matches including six single-digit scores. He sustained the injury ahead of PBKS’ washed-out clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on April 26.
The IPL confirmed the replacement in an official statement: “Punjab Kings have picked all-rounder Mitch Owen as a replacement for Glenn Maxwell, who has been ruled out of the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to a broken finger.”
