Smriti Mandhana Breaks Virat Kohli’s Record with Fastest ODI Century
Smriti Mandhana made history on Saturday by becoming the fastest Indian to score a century in ODI cricket, surpassing Virat Kohli’s record. Kohli had reached his 52-ball century in 2013 against Australia, hitting seven sixes and eight fours. Mandhana, meanwhile, achieved her milestone in just 50 deliveries against the same opponent during the third ODI in New Delhi.
Batting at 95* in the second delivery of the 18th over, Mandhana slog-swept Alana King over midwicket for a six to reach her ton. She also broke her own record for the fastest century by an Indian woman in ODIs, previously set at 70 deliveries.
As an opener, Mandhana now shares the joint-highest number of centuries (13) in Women’s ODIs with Suzie Bates and ranks joint second in overall ODI centuries.

Smriti Mandhana continued her incredible form on Saturday, scoring 125 off 63 balls against Australia in the third ODI in New Delhi. Her century marked the second-fastest in Women’s ODIs, just behind Meg Lanning’s 45-ball ton in 2012. With this innings, Mandhana now has 13 ODI centuries, equaling Suzie Bates, and ranks third behind Meg Lanning (15). She also matched her own record for most hundreds in consecutive innings for India, having previously scored two in June 2024.
This was her fourth century against Australia in ODIs and her fourth ton this year, tying Tazmin Brits for the most centuries in 2025. Mandhana’s innings featured 17 fours and five sixes, providing a strong response to Beth Mooney’s 57-ball hundred in Australia’s 412-run total. She was eventually dismissed by Grace Harris on the first delivery of the 22nd over.
