The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are currently facing off against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 26th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. In a surprising move, Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been left out of LSG’s playing XI for this match.

The LSG vs GT encounter is being held at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. LSG captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Mitchell Marsh has been in outstanding form this season, amassing 265 runs in just five matches at an impressive average of 53.00 and a blistering strike rate of 180.27. The powerful right-hander has notched up four half-centuries so far, with a highest score of 81.

At the toss, Rishabh Pant confirmed that Mitchell Marsh would not feature in the playing XI for the match against Gujarat Titans. The LSG skipper explained that Marsh has opted out to attend to his unwell daughter. Himmat Singh has been named as his replacement for the LSG vs KKR clash.
“Mitchell Marsh is out his daughter isn’t well. Himmat Singh comes in,” Pant announced during the toss.
Marsh has been in excellent form this season, currently sitting as the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament, behind Nicholas Pooran and Sai Sudharsan on the Orange Cap leaderboard. In LSG’s previous outing against Kolkata Knight Riders, Marsh played a brilliant innings, scoring 81 runs and helping his team clinch a narrow four-run win.
As things stand, Rishabh Pant’s side has secured three wins and suffered two defeats in their first five matches of IPL 2025, placing them sixth on the points table with six points. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans are at the top, having won four of their five encounters so far.
