Sri Lanka secured their first victory of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 with a commanding win over Bangladesh in the second Test, held at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Bangladesh managed 247 runs in their first innings. Shadman Islam top-scored with 46, while Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando and Sonal Dinusha each claimed three wickets to restrict the visitors.

Bangladesh’s second innings saw a dramatic collapse as they were dismissed for just 133 runs. Prabath Jayasuriya led the bowling charge for Sri Lanka with a five-wicket haul, helping his team register an innings-and-78-run win.

With this result, Sri Lanka sealed the series 1-0, as the first Test had ended in a draw. Pathum Nissanka was named Player of the Match for his brilliant century and was also awarded Player of the Series for amassing 369 runs across the two Tests.

India and the West Indies, both of whom lost their opening matches, are positioned fifth and sixth respectively.
