The ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup 2025 is set to kick off on January 18 in Malaysia.
The inaugural edition of the competition took place in January 2023 in South Africa, where India claimed the title under Shafali Verma’s captaincy.
This year’s tournament features 16 teams competing in 41 matches across four venues in Malaysia. The grand finale is slated for February 2 at the Bayuemas Oval in Pandamaran.

The 16 teams are divided into four groups of four teams each.
Group A: India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, West Indies
Group B: England, Ireland, Pakistan, USA
Group C: New Zealand, Nigeria, Samoa, South Africa
Group D: Australia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Scotland
ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup 2025: What is the format of the tournament?
There are four groups and each group comprises four teams. Each team will play against every other team in their group once.
The top three sides from each group will progress to the Super 6 round, where two groups will be formed of six teams each. In the Super 6 round, teams of Group A and Group D will be clubbed in one group, while teams from Group B will be put together with teams from Group C.
Points earned in matches against other qualifying teams during the first group stage will carry over to the Super 6 stage.
The top two teams from each Super 6 group will progress to the semi-finals, and the winners of the two semi-finals will meet in the final on February 2.
The Super 6 stage will be played from January 25 to January 29, while the semi-finals are slated for January 31 in Pandamaran.
