Harry Brook has surpassed Joe Root to become the No. 1 ranked ICC Test batter, marking a significant achievement in his career. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has dropped three places in the rankings, reflecting a shift in his recent form. Brook’s rise highlights his outstanding performances, while Pant’s dip shows challenges in his recent performances.
Harry Brook has gained the top position in the ICC test batting rankings for the first time.
Brook achieved this milestone for the first time following a stellar performance in the recently concluded second Test against New Zealand.
Scoring his eighth Test century in the match, Brook played a key role in England’s victory in the ongoing three-match series in Wellington, propelling him to the top spot in the updated ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings.
Brook’s rise to 898 rating points now surpasses Joe Root’s current total of 897, placing the 25-year-old on par with Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, who holds the 34th-highest Test rating of all time.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter, dropped three places and now sits at No. 6 in the Test batting rankings. Yashasvi Jaiswal remains India’s highest-ranked batter at No. 4. Shubman Gill has moved up to 17th, while Virat Kohli fell six places to drop to 20th.
Jasprit Bumrah remains the no.1 ranked bowler and Ravindra Jadeja holds onto his no.1 spot in the all-rounder rankings
India’s pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, remains at the top of the Test bowling rankings, but faces growing competition. Australia’s captain Pat Cummins has risen one spot to fourth, while New Zealand’s Matt Henry has moved up to ninth.
Other fast bowlers also made significant progress, with Mitchell Starc climbing three places to 11th, Chris Woakes rising two spots to 15th, and Gus Atkinson advancing four places to 17th. South African spinner Keshav Maharaj returned to the top 20, moving up four spots to joint 18th after his match-winning performance against Sri Lanka on the final day.
Ravindra Jadeja maintained his position at No. 1 in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings. After his team’s series against the West Indies in the Caribbean, Bangladesh’s captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz climbed two places to secure the second spot.
Ravichandran Ashwin stayed at No. 3, followed by Shakib Al Hasan in fourth. Meanwhile, India’s Axar Patel dropped one place, now ranked No. 9.
