Suryakumar Yadav Leads India to Dominant Victory Over Pakistan

In yet another chapter of the storied India-Pakistan rivalry, the ‘Men in Blue’ put on a masterclass. During the Super Four clash of the Asia Cup 2025, India outplayed Salman Ali Agha’s Pakistan side, handing them a comprehensive six-wicket defeat with seven balls to spare. Suryakumar Yadav’s stellar performance once again highlighted India’s supreme skill, leaving Pakistan unable to match the intensity and precision of their rivals.

The Super Four clash mirrored the result from eight days earlier, when India also defeated Pakistan in the league stage. Since the September 14 match, former Pakistan cricketers and experts have expressed concern over the growing gap in skill between the two sides. Wasim Akram reiterated these sentiments following the latest defeat of the ‘Men in Green.’

Speaking during the post-match show, Wasim Akram said, “I am going to speak my heart out. It is tough to watch Pakistan. I understand as an ex-player winning and losing is part of the game. But again, India has outplayed Pakistan in every department over the last four or five years. Once or twice, we have won here and there, but India’s performance has been incredible. The talent, the depth, everything. One or two catches can be dropped in any game, that is fine. But from 91 in the first 10 overs, when we fail to reach 200, there is nothing to say.”

Abhishek and Gill demolish PAK bowlers to take India home comfortably

After winning the toss, India elected to field first, and Pakistan got off to a brilliant start with their new opening pair, Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman. This was a change from their earlier games, where Saim Ayub partnered Farhan. Zaman rose to the occasion, attacking India’s premier bowler Jasprit Bumrah and giving Pakistan a strong start.

However, Zaman’s innings ended controversially via a third-umpire decision, leaving Farhan to anchor the innings with a half-century. Pakistan looked poised for a 190-plus total, but India’s disciplined bowling and control over the run-flow kept their opponents to 171 in 20 overs—still a competitive score, but 15–20 runs short of a winning target.

In response, Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill launched a masterful assault, scoring 105 runs in just 59 deliveries before getting separated. Despite losing a few wickets later, India’s authority never wavered. The ‘Men in Blue’ cruised to victory with six wickets in hand and seven balls to spare, once again asserting their dominance in the historic rivalry.
