Rain has caused a delay in the toss for the IPL 2025 clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The 58th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to feature RCB, led by Rajat Patidar, taking on KKR, captained by Ajinkya Rahane, on Saturday, May 17, at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Unfortunately, heavy rain in Bengaluru has impacted the match schedule, pushing back the toss. This game is crucial for both teams. RCB, currently second in the points table with 16 points from eight wins in 11 matches, need just one more victory to secure a spot in the playoffs. In contrast, KKR, who are sixth with 11 points from five wins in 12 games, must win this encounter to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Will RCB qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs if their match against KKR is washed out?
If the RCB vs KKR match is washed out due to rain and ends with no result, both teams will receive one point each. This would take RCB’s total to 17 points, which would secure their spot in the playoffs. Additionally, RCB would move to the top of the points table, overtaking Gujarat Titans.
Rajat Patidar and his teammates have two more matches left in the league stage, excluding the game against KKR. They are scheduled to play against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 23 and Lucknow Super Giants on May 27.
On the other hand, KKR would face a significant setback if their match against RCB is washed out. They would have 12 points from 13 matches and only one game remaining. Even if they win their final match, the maximum points they can reach is 14, which won’t be enough to qualify for the playoffs. As a result, the defending champions would be knocked out of the playoff race.
