Who are the newly appointed captain and vice-captain of the West Indies Test cricket team?

Kraigg Brathwaite resigned as the captain of the West Indies Test team in March 2025. Following his resignation, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has appointed a new captain and vice-captain for the West Indies Test team. These new leaders will guide the team in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle.

West Indies will kick off their ICC WTC 2025-27 campaign with a three-match Test series against Australia in June 2025. The series will begin with the first Test in Barbados on June 25 and conclude with the third Test in Jamaica, starting on July 12.

In addition to the Test series, Australia’s tour of the West Indies in 2025 will feature a five-match T20I series.

Cricket: CWI conducted a selection process to choose the new Test captain and vice-captain. Six players—John Campbell, Tevin Imlach, Joshua Da Silva, Justin Greaves, Roston Chase, and Jomel Warrican—were considered for these leadership roles.

Cricket, West Indies Head Coach Daren Sammy expressed his full support for the decision and urged fans to back the new leadership.

“I fully support this decision. Our new captain has earned the respect of his teammates, understands the responsibilities of leadership, and has demonstrated the qualities needed to guide this team forward.
