Sneh Rana went unsold at the WPL 2025 auction but has now been brought into the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) squad as a replacement for the injured Shreyanka Patil. On Saturday, February 15, RCB confirmed the signing of Sneh for INR 30 lakhs.
Previously, Sneh was a part of Gujarat Giants (GG) and even captained the team during the first season when Beth Mooney was sidelined after the opening match. Despite her leadership and performance, Sneh went unsold at the WPL 2025 auction held in December.
Sneh’s WPL career includes six wickets in 12 matches at an economy rate of 9.02.
The reason behind Shreyanka Patil’s injury, which has ruled her out of the tournament, has not been officially disclosed. Shreyanka was a key contributor to RCB’s title-winning campaign last year, finishing as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets in eight games, maintaining an economy rate of 7.3. Her overall WPL record stands at 19 wickets from 15 matches.
RCB rope in Sneh Rana as injured Shreyanka Patil’s replacement
RCB announced the arrival of Sneh Rana as a replacement for the injured Shreyanka Patil through a social media post on X. The post read, “OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Sneh Rana is all set to rock and roll in the Red, Blue, and Gold threads as Shreyanka Patil’s injury replacement. We can’t wait to see the Rana specials reign supreme!”
Rana has represented India in 52 white-ball matches, taking 53 wickets. Although she’s currently not part of India’s limited-overs plans, she featured in the one-off Test against South Africa in Chennai last June.
Ahead of the season, RCB lost several key players, including Sophie Devine (unavailable), Kate Cross (injury), Asha Sobhana (injury), and Sophie Molineux (injury).
Despite these setbacks, RCB started the new season with a bang, securing a dominant six-wicket victory over Gujarat Giants in Vadodara. They successfully chased down a mammoth 202-run target with nine balls to spare, with Richa Ghosh earning Player of the Match honors for her brilliant half-century.
